The Gangabal Lake is situated at the foothills of Haramukh Mountain in Ganderbal district of Kashmir valley. This alpine high altitude lake lies at an elevation of 3570 meters, is home to many types of fishes including rainbow and brown trout. The Gangbal lake is approached from Srinagar 45 kilometers by road via Ganderbal up to Naranag and then a trek of 15 kilometers upslopes leads to the lake, which can be covered by a horse ride or by foot. The trek to the lake Gangabal takes place in an alpine environment, (cut crossing) with meadows, (cut from) and huts of Gujjars with their herds crossing through two passes over 4,000 m to get to the lake Gangabal.
As you arrive in Srinagar, our representative will receive you from airport or bus-station and transfer to the houseboat. You can take a Shikara ride in the mighty Dal Lake. Overnight stay at the houseboat.
In the early morning, after breakfast at houseboat, we will drive to Naranag which is a 3 hrs drive. After reaching Narang, we will pack our load on horses and start our trek. Our trail is slightly steep through pine forest of Butsheri and through the meadows of Bodpathri. After a trek of 5 hrs, we will camp at Trunkhol for an overnight stay.
In the morning, we leave the campsite to trek towards the Lake, in between having a fantastic view of the green meadows and the panoramic grassy fields. While trekking, you can get a fantastic view of the Karakoram Mountains. After trekking for 4 hrs, we will reach Gangabal Lake, where we will stop for an overnight stay. These are two lakes Gangabal and Nundkol situated at the foothills of Mount Haramukh.
After staying at Gangbal Lake for night and enjoying the beautiful scenic view of the nature, we will leave Gangabal and Nundkol Lakes and trek through the meadows of Trunkol and descend to Naranag village through the pine forest of Bodpathri. After trekking for 6 hrs, here we end our walking. We take our car and drive back to Srinagar houseboat for an overnight stay.
On the 5th Day, we will drop you at airport or bus station for departure.
